Ateshgah & Burning Mountain Tour | Hyder Aliyev Museum
Ateshgah Fire Temple
After breakfast, the guide will pick you up either from the Sahil Metro Exit or your accommodation (has to be specified in “Extras” during checkout) and head to the ancient Zoroastrian temple “Ateshgah” an authentic Azerbaijani exotic site. It is locatedapproximately 30 km from the center of Baku in the suburb of Surakhany. You will learn a lot about the temple from your guide, particularly more about the history of such a temple in Baku and the unique natural phenomenon of burning natural gas outlets.
Yanar Dagh (“Burning Mountain”)
After visiting the temple, go directly to “Yanar Dag” (“Burning Mountain”), located not too far from Ateshgah Temple. It is the most famous and popular tourist site of the “Eternal Flame” in Azerbaijan. It is rather a hill than a mountain, with natural gas burning on its slope from ancient times.
Gobustan And Mud Volcano Tour
The tour will start at the Gobustan Museum, where you will see the ancient human bones and work tools used a thousand years ago during the Mesolithic period. Gobustan geographical region is in the southwest of Baku. The meaning of the word ‘Gobustan’ is derived from two words, ‘gobu’, meaning ravine, and ‘stan’, meaning place, i.e., ravine area. The word ‘gobu’ is also of Turkic origin and means “a dried-up river valley”.
After visiting the Gobustan Museum, proceed to the mountain to see real rock paintings in the open-air museum. Later, proceed to the Mud Volcano which is 20 minutes away from the Gobustan National Museum. Azerbaijan is the world’s number one place with the most number of mud volcanoes. About 300 mud volcanoes are to be found in Azerbaijan – at the shore, in the sea, and on the islands. During this trip, you will get a chance to see these rare and active volcanoes from a very close distance. Your tour will end by dropping you off at your hotel.
Sheki Tour
We will pick you up from Baku early at 7:00 AM. From there you will head directly to one of the ancient cities of Azerbaijan – Sheki. After around 4 and a half hours, reaching Sheki, we will go to the house where you will stay overnight. As soon as we finish with accommodation, you will visit the authentic national restaurant to taste the typical food in Sheki. To burn some calories, enjoy the beauty of the city, and learn about its history, you will take a 3-hour walking tour around the city with the local guide. We will explore the city and visit major points – Palace of Sheki Khans, Caravanserai, old Albanian temple, and, of course, sweet houses famous for their “halva”s. We will have a tea break, to rest before visiting Kish village and Albanian church. You will also have time for shopping, if necessary. Overnight Stay in Sheki.
Gabala Tour
On the next day, boost your appetite with a fresh and juicy breakfast, as it’s time to say goodbye to Sheki. We will visit the second major destination, Gabala, a city surrounded by the Caucasus Mountains. We will go to the Tufandag Summer- Winter Complex and take a cable car to enjoy the view of some high points of the Greater Caucasus. Later, we’ll head to Nohur Lake in Gabala. Enjoy the beautiful nature of Nohur. We will visit the Yeddi Gozel Waterfall. The name of the waterfall means seven beauties. There are seven steps to go up the mountain. The waterfall is situated in the woods near the main road West of Vandam. Although the waterfall is hard to climb, it is worth visiting. Each year, thousands of people visit the waterfall. Visit Gabala Shooting Centre. Explore the local market in Gabala. Enjoy your time in the mountains. Overnight Stay in Gabala.
Baku City And Old City Walking Tour
After breakfast, dig into the past, present, and future of Baku in a Half-Day Baku City Sightseeing Tour. Whether you are a first-time visitor or want to know more about the city, this tour is for you. You’ll discover the major sights of Baku located in the old part of Baku called “Ichari Shahar” and more modern parts of the seaside boulevard, uphill parks, and buildings. You will get to know the evolution of Baku from its establishment in the 5th century, through the Soviet Era and up to its independence. Your guide will lead you along the most remarkable monuments and buildings, and you can take memorable shots. The Half-Day Baku City Sightseeing Tour covers most of the sights you can visit and see.
Baku Old Town “Icharishahar” – As soon as you meet your guide at the exit of Icharishahar metro station, we will enter Baku Old Town, called “Icharishahar”. The Old Town of Baku is a beautiful maze, full of narrow streets, surprising sights, old wooden balconies, stone roads, and an atmosphere that you’ll never forget. It is a discovery by itself, every time you visit this part of the city. Your guide will tell you stories of locals about the Old Town and how it was changed and developed throughout history.
Fountain Square – Our second stop, the Fountain Square, was one of the first-ever parks created in Azerbaijan and was full of mansions of oil magnates. It’s located in the central street of Baku and was called “Torgovaya”, translated as the trading street. Until the 90s, this street was full of merchants trading souvenirs, vintage accessories, and clothing. The Museum of Miniature Books was in the Guinness Books of World Records until recently. It still has a great collection of miniature and even almost microscopic books. A small museum that will be our first stop on our way to discover more – The Palace of the Shirvanshahs! Enter the Shirvanshahs’ Palace, the central part of the ancient Shiranshahs kingdom, and dive into the spirit of Islamic civilization while passing through the courtyard and the king’s private rooms. Learn about the palace’s history and visit the mausoleums that have witnessed many troubles for the past two centuries. The second place we will visit is the most remarkable and mysterious monument – the Maiden Tower, built in the southeast part of the Old Town. Once you immerse yourself in the experience of discovering such an extraordinary building, you will know why it is considered the symbol of Baku. Before we head to Baku Boulevard, we will have an hour-long lunch break, so you can rest and enjoy the national dishes made by the soulful Azerbaijani people. Our guide will give you a few options for lunch and it’s completely up to you what to eat and drink. If you choose the Food & Drinks included option when booking, your guide will take you to a national restaurant located downtown. Little Venice, restored into a new grand look, will be our third stop. It’s not a long stop, but a view of the small oasis in Baku Boulevard.
Carpet Museum – After we enter Baku Boulevard, we will head to the Carpet Museum. The museum is a must-see if you are in Baku at least for a day. Baku Funicula, enjoy the ride in a funicular while getting a short glimpse of Baku city up above from the hills of Baku. Right by the Martyrs’ Lane, you will see the Flame Towers, famous for their unique modern architectural design. Martyrs Lane or Martyrs’ Alley is an exhibition of Azerbaijanis’ courage against the Soviet occupation. Get a glimpse of the end of the totalitarian Soviet regime during our visit to Martyrs’ Alley. Daghustu Park (“Uphill Park”), you will see stunning view of the city. It is a great spot for selfies to show off your visit to Azerbaijan! Baku Ferris Wheel is a Ferris wheel on Baku Boulevard in the Seaside National Park of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The wheel is 60 meters tall and has 30 cabins, each holding eight people. It makes a complete turn in 30 to 40 minutes.
Departure
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Airport for Departure to India with sweet memories of the tour. The tour ends with sweet memories.
